Orlando City SC, which is just a short trip east on Interstate-4 from Tampa, recently became just one of two active teams to reach the MLS Cup playoffs in five consecutive seasons, all coming under the guidance of Head Coach Oscar Pareja.
“We can’t wait to bring the excitement of the Orlando/Miami rivalry down the road to our neighbors in Tampa, and look forward to having the opportunity to showcase our Lions in front of a great crowd at Raymond James Stadium,” said Orlando City SC President of Business Operations, Jarrod Dillon. “We are excited to partner with the Tampa Bay Sports Commission on this event, and look forward to it being a great addition to our 2025 MLS preseason calendar.”
Orlando City Soccer Club entered MLS as its 21st team and started competition in 2015. The Lions are currently led by Uruguayan international, Facundo Torres, who recently became Orlando City’s all-time leading scorer by netting his 45th goal in October and has 19 goals on the season. Winger Martín Ojeda has collected a team-best 12 assists, while Iván Angulo paces the squad with over 2,700 minutes played and is third on the team in assists.
Since starting the intrastate Derby in 2020, Orlando City SC owns a one-win edge in the series (five wins, four losses and four draws). No team has ever won more than two consecutive matches in the series.
Additionally, fans will have the opportunity to participate in a pregame fan festival, which will take place outside of Raymond James Stadium before the match and will be free to ticket holders.
